Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of hair treatments do you offer?

We craft permanent and semi-permanent hair transformations, from sleek straightening to elegant waves and curls, or a bespoke combination of these. Our hair restoration treatments work at the core of the hair, restructuring it to achieve long-lasting, flawless results while minimizing styling time.

What is the difference between permanent and semi-permanent hair straightening treatments?

Permanent hair straightening treatments break the hair’s natural bonds and restructure it into a desired pattern, whether pin-straight, naturally straight, or naturally straight with volume. This includes hair relaxers, Japanese/Korean permanent straightening, ionic reconditioning, and smoothing systems. Only new hair growth will require retouching.

Semi-permanent hair straightening treatments, such as keratin, hair botox, and protein treatments improve hair texture and make hair easier to style but do not permanently change its structure. They require special aftercare to maintain results and are not recommended for pregnant women for safety reasons and individuals active in water sports, as the treatment can be washed out quickly.

What is a perm?

A perm (permanent wave) is a chemical treatment that adds curls or waves by reshaping the hair’s bonds. Highly recommended for women with naturally fine, flat hair to add volume and style. The result is long-lasting curls that grow out gradually.

What types of perms do you offer?

We work with several perm systems, including:

Alkaline (cold) perms

Acid perms

Digital or hot perms

The right perm depends on your hair’s texture, strength, and curl goal.

Can I have straight hair with the perms at the ends?

No and Yes. Perms and relaxers use different chemicals and should never be done one after the other, as this can cause severe damage or breakage. On virgin hair, however, your stylist may be able to safely perform both treatments at the same time.

What hair products do you use?

At The Hair Alchemist, we use only high-quality, salon-grade products from trusted brands like Shiseido, Milbon Liscio, and L’Oréal, alongside our own brand. we have used these products for more than a decade and know how to deliver best desired results.

What kind of special care will my hair need after treatment?

Permanent Straightening:
Just the basics, shampoo, conditioner, and a weekly mask.

Maintenance level: super easy and wallet-friendly. Your hair practically takes care of itself!

Waving/Curls (Perms):
Shampoo, conditioner, and a little mousse is all you need.

Maintenance level: easy-breezy and affordable. Your curls will thank you!

Semi-Permanent Straightening:
Requires special shampoo, conditioner, weekly mask, and serum. Be extra careful with sports or sweat—they can strip the treatment.

Maintenance level: high, and a bigger long-term investment, with results that aren’t as lasting as permanent treatments. We usually recommend sticking to permanent straightening for effortless, long-lasting hair.

Are chemical treatments safe for my hair?

When performed correctly by a trained professional, chemical treatments are safe. At The Hair Alchemist, we always conduct consultations, strand tests, and hair analysis before any chemical service to protect your hair and also your health.
